SAG Awards Best Dressed

Lupita Nyong'o in Gucci
Third times' a charm! Looking stunning in a gold and turquoise gown with embroidered straps.

Amy Adams in Antonio Berardi
I love this shade of blue on Amy Adams. Even better is the illusion dress with embellished belt.

Camila Alves in Donna Karan Atelier
Camila looks amazing in this mustard yellow strapless gown. The sweetheart neckline and draping add a special touch and flatters her figure.

Jennifer Garner in Max Mara
Loving this navy, silk bustier gown in Mrs. Ben Affleck. The accent of the love the gunmetal belt adds a slightly edgy touch. Love it!

Oprah Winfrey in Badgley Mischka
Oprah looks beautiful long-sleeved, form-fitting, lilac gown with accompanying brooch.

Hannah Simone in Marchesa
Hanna looks angelic in this pale gray gown with floral applique neckline.

Elisabeth Rohm in Marchesa
I love the femininity of this nude and white gown. The detailing definitely kicks it up a notch.

Alex Hudgens
Alex went of the basic black gown but the detailing of the bodice and the off-the-shoulder neckline set it apart.

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons in Emily Meyer for Tea Collection
Aubrey looks adorable in this two-tone, iridescent satin, orchid-colored dress. This is how little girls should dress.

Catrice Van Houten
You can never go wrong with a black tea-length dress. The pockets, clutch and floral print pumps make a little more special.

Gretchen Mol
There is something different about this gown that makes me like it. Maybe it's the mesh see-through bodice or the simple wrap in the front. One thing it's not, unfortunately, is the shoes. Sorry Gretchen, they gotta go!

Rita Wilson
Ms. Wilson looks ageless in this unconventional crinkled aluminum gown.

Melissa Rauch in Rubin Singer
Another example of a twist on the classic black gown. The detailing and embossed leather belt add a little edginess.

Malin Akerman in Naeem Khan
This black and nude gown is made complete by the deco-beading.

Tina Fey in Oscar de la Renta
Appears as if black was the "it" color on the red carpet. Tina looks great in this black, crepe, cowl-neck gown. Let's not forget her mini-me Alice who coordinated with her mom in a dress with a black lace overlay bodice and pleated white skirt. Cute!

Adepero Oduye
Adepero looks radiant in this yellow strapless gown with pockets.

Kelly Osbourne in Zac Posen
Sporting one of my favorite designers, Kelly looks great in this dark lilac, capped sleeve gown with ribbed texture.

Maria Menounos in Rani Zakhem
Love this Grecian-inspired powder pink chiffon gown. The lace cut-outs and criss-cross bands add a modern touch.

Diana Madison
I'm not usually a fan of dresses with straps, but the embellishment and flare of this form-fitting black mermaid gown make up for it all.

Golden Globe Faves

I LOVE awards season!! I could really care less about who wins what honestly. What I want to see is the FASHION!! I love seeing the celebrities transform themselves, and push the envelope in some cases. Last night were the Golden Globes and the stars were out! Here are my faves from the night.

Lupita Nyong'o in Ralph Lauren
Lupita looks AMAZING! For her first red carpet appearance she stuns in this red silk dress courtesy of Ralph Lauren.

Angela Bassett in Ines DiSanto
Ms. Bassett was absolutely stunning in this cleavage baring, black, sequin-embellished gown. I pray I look half as good as she does when I'm her age!

Margot Robbie in Gucci
Margot brought winter to the red carpet in this custom-designed, cream, silk crepe, crystal and emerald-embroidered gown.

Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive
You can never go wrong with classic black, but I LOVE when celebrities take it to another level. I love Cate's choice of in the lace and tulle dress.

Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein
Reese kept it chic yet comfy in this custom-designed silk crepe, T-back dress.

Emma Roberts in Lanvin
Loving this sleeveless, black, matte, stretch dress with mermaid hem. Her accompanying turquoise jewelry adds the perfect pop of color!

Olivia Wilde in Gucci Premiere
This is how you dress a baby bump! Olivia is glowing in this emerald green, silk, long-sleeved gown embroidered with metallic and emerald crystals.

Kate Beckinsale in Zuhair Murad
Kate is one of my favorites to look for on the red carpet and this dress captured ALL elements that I love in a gown: sweetheart neckline, mermaid hem, gunmetal and metallic!

Camila Alves in Dolce & Gabbana
Love the simplicity of this gown yet the elegance of the sequins.

Monica Potter in Romona Keveza
Romona Keveza is by far one of my favorite gown designers, and here's just one reason why.

Kelley Osbourne in Escada
Kelley Osbourne has really matured in front of our eyes and this is just one example. Bella!

Sofia Vergara in Zac Posen
Sofia went overboard, in a good way, with this ensemble. Channeling the same color scheme as Emma Roberts, I'm loving the full skirt and sweetheart neckline.

Miss Golden Globes, Sosie Bacon
Lastly, Sosie Bacon. She has grown-up since her days on The Closer and beautiful she is. Loving her in this sleeveless white and cream lace bodice gown

The men also showcased themselves at the 2014 Golden Globes. You can never go wrong with a black tuxedo, but a lot of our gents took it a step further and brought color to the red carpet. Take a look at some of my faves.

Usher Raymond in Calvin Klein
I'm very much a fan of Usher's oxblood wool tuxedo, especially paired with the black-on-black shirt and bow tie.

Seth Meyers in Valentino
Seth Meyers wore my favorite color well as he look handsome in this navy silk wool tuxedo.

Matthew McConaughey
There's something about Matthew's emerald green velvet jacket that screams money! The combination of that and the matching vest...distinguished.

Bradley Cooper
You can't go wrong with the "basic" black tuxedo and Bradley Cooper wore it well; as he does most things.

Idris Elba in Gucci
And the best for last. No words needed. Wish he had worn a bow tie...

Thrift Store Finds

Let's admit it. A lot of us don't have the energy to sift through the racks at our local thrift stores; this takes a whole new level of patience! However, thrift stores can be some of the best places to find unique and vintage fashion. Lately, I have found some awesome and practical pieces at my local thrift stores. Here I will occasionally share some of my best finds.

GAP Women's navy blue wool pea coat for $5.99 + 50% off!

Châtelaine Privée coat for $14.99

Vintage B.J. Keats blazer for $3.99 + 50% off!

Check your local Salvation Army for finds. The Châtelaine Privée coat was found on a random shopping trip; after multiple laps around the store. The key is to go with your eyes and mind WIDE open! If you go in search of a particular item, chances are you aren't going to find it; that's what the department stores are for. But if you are looking for unique or surprising items to add to your wardrobe then the store is it.

Live in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area? Visit B Thrifty in Woodbridge, VA; my pea coat and blazer were found there. Make sure to become a BIP Member (B Thrifty Important Person) to earn substantial savings on select days. Are you a Foursquare member? Check-in on Saturdays and automatically receive 50% off your entire purchase just buy showing the staff your check-in at checkout!

Stay tuned for more finds!

5 Winter Wardrobe Staples

Recently Who What Wear posted an article stating the 5 Winter Wardrobe Staples that every woman should have in her closet to help her make it through the winter weather. This season's version of BUY THIS! NOT THAT! Celebrity stylists Emily and Meritt present their 5 finds but The O-Factor, as always, presents your budget-friendly alternatives to please the frugalista in you.

Staple #1 - A Black Wool Coat or a Navy Peacoat

WhoWhatWear's Pick

Don't skimp on quality or thickness when it comes to your wear-with-everything coat.  Opt for a neutral color—black or navy—as you may end up wearing this every day. Be sure it is roomy, as it needs to fit over many layers. Ideally your coat should be able to work with dressier pieces too, so a style in a nice wool or boucle would be best.

Must-Have #1: A Big Black Wool Coat or Navy Peacoat

O's Pick

GUESS Faux Leather Trim Military Coat
At a regular price of $178 this black wool coat from Guess, courtesy of Nordstrom, is a good deal, but snag it at the sale price of $119.26 PLUS free shipping and you've just gotten an O Factor deal!!

Staple #2 - A Lined Army or Puffer Jacket

WhoWhatWear's Pick

This coat, which is equally as warm as the previous style, is more casual and street warrior-like. Be sure it is lined and cozy, as well as equipped with a hood and pockets.

Must-Have #2: A Lined Army or Puffer Jacket

O's Pick

jcp™ Hooded Twill Parka
With two color options of Darkest Sky ($99.99) and Dark Evergreen ($109.99) you'll be kept warm in this parka courtesy of JCPenney with adjustable drawcord waist and detachable hood.

Staple #3 - Fashionable All-Weather Boots

WhoWhatWear's Pick

The key to a happy winter is to have warm feet. A flat boot that is treaded and at least mid-calf high can get you from work to home, and from errand to errand. A fully functional Sorrel boot can help you brave any storm, and a cooler, more day-to-day flat boot is nice to have too.

Must-Have #3: Fashionable All-Weather Boots

O's Pick

Lucky Brand 'Ripley' Bootie
This all-weather Lucky Brand bootie comes in Dark Camel, and Dark Olive to suit your wardrobe. At a limited time price of $49.47, why not grab more than one?!

Looking for another alternative?

DV by Dolce Vita 'Sandie' Boot
This Nordstrom Exclusive leather boot also comes in a variety of colors (Black, Brown, Burgundy, Grey, and Taupe). At a slightly higher price, you still can't go wrong with a price tag of $66.29.

Staple #4 - Cashmere Hat, Mitten and Scarf

WhoWhatWear's Pick

There is a reason cashmere is considered luxurious and is often pricy. It is super soft, warm, and comforting. Invest in a hat, pair of mittens, and a big scarf in neutral colors—like cream and taupe—and simply wear them with everything.
Must-Have #4: Cashmere Hat, Mitten and Scarf

O's Pick
Now there's no way around it: cashmere is cashmere and it shouldn't be duplicated. Here are your best possible deals:

Cashmere Boutique Cashmere Scarf, Hat and Gloves Set
For $99 with free shipping at Amazon, you can get the full cashmere set available in a variety of colors (Black, Camel, Charcoal, Crimson, Espresso, Faded Pewter, Rose Petal Pink, and Vanilla)

Lauren Cashmere Hat & Glove Gift Set
Need another option? Ralph Lauren is offering a sale on the cashmere hat and glove set for 74.99 (originally $136)

Staple #5 - Leather Pants

WhoWhatWear's Pick

Fitted leather leggings can withstand cold winds and elevate every lookInvest in some. Or a few!

Must-Have #5: Leather Pants

O's Pick
If you want a pair of authentic pair of leather pants be prepared to pay a pretty penny. If you're willing to take a small step down, Vegan Leather is in! Here are my top picks:

Blank Denim Vegan Leather Pant
If you like the slim cut, for $92 you can snag this leather pant from Piperlime

Tinley Road Vegan Leather Legging
For $59.97 here is another option to suit your fancy; also falling along the slim cut lines courtesy of Piperlime

Tinley Road Vegan Leather Jogger Pant
Not a fan of the slim cut? Then this jogger pant is for! Still of the vegan variety this pant is just $64.99 from Piperlime

Lily White Faux Leather Track Pants
And to save the best for last... for $25.20 you can snag these track pants by Lily White from Nordstrom
